JSE picks Trianz Concierto for cloud upgrade

JSE Selects Trianz Concierto to drive cloud migration and modernisation across its technology estate, marking a significant step for the South African exchange as it upgrades its digital backbone.

Trianz Concierto Platform Details

The exchange will use the Concierto suite to shift applications, data and infrastructure into a unified operating environment. According to the vendor, the platform can operate across AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, coordinating migration, modernisation and day‑to‑day operations through a single data model.

Trianz describes the solution as an “agentic AI” system that can automate assessment, migration and ongoing management tasks. The company claims the approach can accelerate transformation programmes by three to nine times compared with traditional methods, though the filing notes that independent verification is lacking.

By consolidating tools and control layers, the platform may lower the complexity that typically burdens large‑scale cloud projects. Financial institutions often juggle multiple vendors, making a single‑pane view attractive for governance and compliance teams.

Implications for South African Financial Sector

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange operates in a tightly regulated environment, where any technology shift must preserve resilience, cybersecurity and data stewardship. The engagement therefore serves as a test case for how African markets can adopt advanced cloud architectures while meeting strict oversight requirements.

South Africa’s banking, capital‑markets and telecommunications sectors have been modernising at a rapid pace, and the exchange’s move signals confidence that similar enterprises can follow suit. The project also aligns with regional trends toward AI‑enabled infrastructure, a theme highlighted at the recent AWS Summit in Johannesburg.

During the summit, held at the Gallagher Convention Centre, Trianz was listed as a platinum sponsor and used the stage to showcase Concierto’s capabilities. The event’s agenda covered cloud migration, AI integration, security and infrastructure upgrades, highlighted the growing relevance of these technologies for large‑scale enterprises.

For the exchange, the migration is not just a technical upgrade; it is part of a longer‑term strategy to keep the market’s systems reliable and compliant as trading volumes evolve.

Trianz’s CEO and founder, Sri Manchala, called South Africa a strategic market. The firm says it intends to build lasting relationships with local organisations seeking to modernise applications, data and infrastructure while preparing for broader AI adoption.

While the vendor’s performance claims remain unverified, the partnership provides a concrete reference point for other African financial institutions contemplating similar moves. It demonstrates that cloud migration can be pursued without sacrificing the regulatory safeguards that underpin market integrity.

The exchange’s broader digital transformation agenda includes upgrades to its equities, debt and derivatives platforms, all of which must stay operational during the migration. Maintaining continuity is essential, given the exchange’s role in Africa’s financial system.
